Royston Kite Festival

Royston Kite Festival

At the time of going to press, this year’s Kite Festival, organised by The Rotary Club of Royston is looking increasingly doubtful, following the latest Government restrictions announcement.

President Martin Berry explained, “if all the restriction are lifted on 19th July the Kite Festival could go ahead as planned, but we just don’t know if they will be.” He went on to say that if the event had to be cancelled late in the day, the Rotary Club would lose money. “And we can’t risk doing that – this is a fund raising event for charity, not a commercial operation”. Therefore, please keep an eye on social media and local press for up to date announcements, and we will of course be able to update you next month in The Listing.

Meanwhile, if you have any unwanted tools looking for a new home, or maybe a sewing machine or laptop (in working order), then Rotary would be delighted to take them off your hands!
Colleagues from the Saffron Walden club are organising a collection on behalf of the charity Tools with a Mission (TWAM). After the collection, the tools will be taken to TWAM’s warehouse in in Ipswich, where they are refurbished before being shipped to developing countries.
