Mindful Living by Becky, Chanting Stork Yoga: Little Rays of Sunshine
As we naturally start to close the doors to stay warm at this time of the year, it is a good opportunity to metaphorically open the doors within us; our conscious awareness.
Did you know that by being more conscious of little moments of sunshine and happiness, we encourage our brains to use different muscles and create new more positive neural connections? What’s even better news is that the more we use these, let’s call them ‘happy muscles’, the stronger they get and the happier we become.
By noticing and absorbing the little positive things that happen in our everyday lives, we create an energy of gratitude which contributes towards feelings of being content, rather than feelings of lack or discontent.
Start practicing by cultivating a sense of joy in small yet foundational ways.
Ask yourself, “What is it about October that inspires me?”
And then spend some time writing down whatever comes to mind.
With a sense of purpose and inquisitiveness, notice the things that you wrote as we move deeper into the month. Make a date with yourself and choose to do one thing that brings you joy. Even if it’s new, take a chance and step out there.
I love John Borough’s quote; “Leap and the net will appear”.
If you do nice things for yourself the universe will have your back.
And so, I will leave you with that, a quest to discover the little rays of sunshine in your life that make you happier so we can leave the negative thoughts and feelings to slowly fade away ‘like morning mist on an autumn day’…
Peaceful wishes, Becky – Chanting Stork Yoga
