Children and staff at Sandon JMI in North Hertfordshire are very excited to welcome their new Headmaster, Mr Spencer Rignall who begins a new chapter as Headteacher at Sandon JMI this term.
Staffing is also boosted by Miss Helen Regan, Mrs Colette Perale, Mrs Trace Wilson, Mrs Sarah Dear, Mr Stephen Awovemi and a new Herts for Learning (HFL) school effectiveness adviser.
Sandon school has welcomed a significant level of investment from RISE, a government funded programme specialising in helping small village schools to thrive. It was specially selected for the scheme with the help of HFL and are using the funding to further develop the school’s SEND provisions and to enhance the support of the higher level of SEND need at the school.
Sandon has been making the most of the extra time afforded to it by Hertfordshire County Council in 2025 with 9 new pupils joining over the last few months and a clear progression plan in place.
On taking up his appointment and looking forward to the challenge, Mr Rignall said: “As I begin my journey as Headteacher, I am committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing and ambitious school where every child is known, valued and supported to thrive. My approach is rooted in strong relationships, genuine listening and a belief that every member of our school community has something important to contribute. With a wealth of experience in school leadership and SEND provision, I am passionate about ensuring that difference is understood, barriers are removed and every child has the opportunity to succeed. I look forward to working collaboratively with pupils, staff, families and the wider community to build a culture where belonging, kindness and high expectations go hand in hand.”
