Community News: Bow Books Kids Celebrates a Fantastic First Week in Royston…

Bow Books Kids has celebrated a fantastic first week since opening its doors in Royston, with hundreds of children already visiting the new independent children’s bookshop.

Paul from Bow Books says the response from local families has been incredibly encouraging, with parents and grandparents bringing children into the shop and sharing warm and positive feedback.

“What an amazing first week. It’s incredibly gratifying to know that hundreds more children will be reading a book, or two, or three, during the summer. Books do matter, especially in the lives of the younger generation.

A huge well done to all the parent and granparents who have alreay bought their children to Bow Books Kids. We’ve really appreciated all your kind and encouraging comments”

The team has been delighted to welcome so many young readers and their families and believes the enthusiasm shown during the first week highlights just how important books and reading remain in children’s lives.

Bow Books Kids is inviting families who haven’t yet visited to come and discover the new children’s bookshop for themselves. With a wide selection of books for children of all ages and interests, it’s a place where young readers can browse, discover new favourites and develop a lifelong love of reading.

There’s also a little something extra for first-time visitors, with children able to collect a free Jolly bookmark while stocks last.

Reflecting on the opening week, Paul added:

“Thank you, Royston, for proving Jeffrey Archer’s jokey remark wrong, twice-over… that opening a bookshop nowadays is a mad idea.

I’m unendingly grateful to our wonderful volunteers, both long-established and those who’ve recently joined us, who make this enterprise possible.

There is nothing stronger than a community that helps itself and one another.

A well-chosen book will give a child a healthy, lively and enquiring mind. There is no greater gift a parent can give a child than a love of reading.”

Families are also invited to the next special event at Bow Books Kids. At 10am on Saturday 8th August, children can enjoy The Very Hungry Caterpillar brought to life in a special storytelling session. The event is free put please pre-register.

Paul also extended his thanks to those who have supported the new venture.

“Thank you to The Listing and Royston Radio for championing both bookshops. Likewise, thank you to Elizabeth, the current Town Mayor, and her predecessors for highlighting the importance of a bookshop to a thriving community.”
