Can we still deliver community magazines during lockdown?
The answer is yes!
One of our fellow independent publishers contacted her MP back in April, and a question was tabled in Parliament.
The key take-home is:
“The government considers continued access to quality news, including via community publications, to be vitally important at the current time…. For the most part delivery is able to continue as normal under social distancing guidance. Journalists and ancillary staff (including those responsible for delivery) have been recognised by the government as key workers and can continue to travel as necessary for work.”
For your reassurance, since The Listing temporarily paused deliveries during the initial lockdown, we have implemented new processes – Covid-safe terms and conditions, provided hand sanitiser to deliverers and all our under 16s have had their work permits reissued by North Herts or South Cambs District Councils with additional Covid compliance. Delivery work takes place outdoors and by its very nature, it is socially distanced work.
