By the time you read this, it will be February already!  As a generalisation (but a general truth), gyms, pools and yoga studios are becoming less crowded after the demise of the ‘New Year’s Resolution’.
Often, when we set future aims (eg: to start exercising in the New Year), we attach emotions to it, and with that, pressure. Intentions that seem realistic when we set them in December may feel overwhelming by mid-January.
Small, consistent changes make the difference. Why join a gym and feel the pressure to go three times a week, then feel a ‘failure’ when you only go once? Instead, head out for a 10 minute walk, turn around, head home – 20 minutes DONE! It’s free, you can walk any time, anywhere and if time is precious, just increase the speed as you get fitter, rather than increase the time.
Count your achievements, however, small. They all add up!
