Whether you live in these villages or further afield you are welcome.
All of our villages are vibrant communities with many activities and groups and the churches are central to each.
More than 25 activity & learning groups. Monthly meeting with guest speaker every third Wednesday monthly (except December) at 2.30 for a 3pm start at Melbourn Village College. From January 2024 they are in the new venue of Melbourn Science Park SG8 6EE
We catch and ring birds on behalf of the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) and all the biometric data we measure is submitted to their National Database to study demographic aspects such as breeding success, winter survival rates, population changes, changes in migration routes etc.
We perform the ringing sessions at 8 sites located in NE Hertfordshire, South Cambridgeshire and NW Essex (situated between Royston and Saffron Walden).
When running sessions, we meet at dawn on any day of the week (mostly weekdays) when the weather is suitable (low winds and no rain) and run the sessions for 4 - 6 hours depending on catching rates.
We aim to do 2 - 3 sessions per week as weather conditions allow.
If you are interested and would like more information or would like to come on a “taster “session to see what we do, then please contact Ken
