Local artist Sarah Wylie, from Therfield, is currently exhibiting her fine art paintings in Curwens Art Gallery for the first time.
Sarah paints beautiful characters from budgies to iguanas with a wide range of subject matter in between. Although her usual commissions are for furry pets, she also paints landscapes, flora and fauna. Having studied Art at A level, Sarah has always been creative and was spurred on to pick up her paintbrushes again during lock down.
This will be the last exhibition before Christmas and also features colourful prints of local familiar landmarks of Royston, fused glass, pottery and handmade recycled candles with a difference. The gallery curator added:
“We’ve had a busy year exhibiting a wide variety of artwork from over 20 talented artists. The frequent complimentary comments from visitors has made the hard work worthwhile. Clients often tell me that the gallery adds a welcoming dimension to their visit, that the art creates a pleasant environment and brings some light relief.” As the member of the Curwens team who facilitates the gallery, Mark Fitzpatrick commented: “Supporting local artists with this non-profit community scheme and assisting with the sales of their artwork brings added enjoyment to my role.”
The affordable Art and original gifts can also be purchased during the solicitors’ normal open hours of 9am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Curwens Solicitors, 17 High Street, Royston, SG8 9AA
