Community News: The Goode Book by Martin Dawes

The Royston and District Local History Society are proud to announce the Launch of an exciting new book, entitled The Goode Book by Martin Dawes.

It tells the story behind The Elmdon Steam Plough Company, founded in Elmdon before being brought to the Heath Works in Royston in 1920 by Harry Goode. The site was eventually taken over by Pye Ling, later to become Ling Dynamics, who as part of Hottinger Bruel & Kjaer UK, still have a presence in Royston. Goodes Court near the Heath is named after the famous Goode family.

The Launch takes place on Thursday 4th December in Royston Town Hall, Melbourn Street. Doors open at 7.30 for 8pm. when Martin Dawes will begin his story. The book will be available to purchase for £15. Cash, cheque or card accepted. Refreshments will be served.

Free entry for members, visitors £5, including refreshments.
