This month Royston Photographic Society are telling the story of Lucie Wood’s photography.
Lucie’s interest in photography took root during her gap year travels in New Zealand. Her subjects were the amazing landscape, flora and fauna she found there, all captured on her compact camera. Those early pictures have inspired her to pursue her photography development ever since.
Lucie finds that photography gives her a chance to capture a moment in time, whether it is with friends or family, a favourite flower or a view. The memory is preserved unchanged for the future bringing back the associated stories and feelings. To keep the moment as faithfully as possible Lucie applies very little editing, if any, to her pictures.
A long standing interest in the natural world means Lucie’s favourite photography is a mix of natural history and landscape. A special interest is in native orchids where we are blessed to to have several species growing on Therfield Heath. Time out in nature with her camera gives Lucie the chance to escape her hectic lifestyle of full time working mum and enjoy a little bit of me-time.
She has been a member of Royston Photographic Society for the past 5 years and has found the members welcoming and keen to offer advice when asked. Club presentations and competitions expand her photography knowledge and offer critiques to help her develop further. Lucie is also a regular on club outings, often visiting busy public spaces where she would not normally venture to photoshoot on her own.
Lucie has reviewed her library of photographs to choose these favourites of hers to show in The Listing.
