The Friends of Therfield Heath were formed in 2018. Gradually our events and publicity have brought us to people’s attention and we are expanding our engagement with other sectors of the community.
This fits with our aim as a charity to promote and encourage the use of Therfield Heath whilst raising awareness of related regulations and encouraging conservation and improvement of the natural environment. This year we are planning to work with the Royston Environmental Group and Royston Museum during Big Green Week in June. Meanwhile, we will be working with a local primary school to assist in their projects to develop the children’s understanding of the biodiversity of Therfield Heath and what they can do to protect it. We are also in discussion with the Conservators of Therfield Heath regarding projects that The Friends can contribute to.
The fundraising continues with YOGA on the Heath in partnership with Yoga with Aline on 23rd March at 5pm.
The annual QUIZ NIGHT is on 28th March at the Heath Café.
The EASTER EGG HUNT is on 13th April and encourages children to run around a selected portion of the Heath searching for coloured stones that they can swap for small Easter eggs. 2484 Bassingbourn squadron ATC cadets will be helping, with an initial litter pick to ensure the area is clean and rehiding the stones once they have been returned.
The favourite BAT WALK is on 15th August led by the Herts and Middlesex Bat Group.
