We were delighted to receive this nomination from Jessica Parker, one of Darren’s colleagues at Wellington Wise, and having known and worked with Darren for a number of years, we were only too happy to highlight Darren’s role in the community, and share our own appreciation.

Tell us about Darren and why you would like to endorse him?
Darren Honey is the most wonderful, kindest human being you’ll ever come across in this town. He has been Mr Royston for many MANY years, doing estate agency, marketing and selling properties to people from all over the place, as well as accompanying what I can only imagine to be thousands of viewings, and quite probably, many hundreds of valuations also! Nothing has ever been too much for Darren to handle or deal with, and regardless – any issues or situations have always been resolved in a calm and professional manner.
What unique skills or qualities makes Darren stand out in his role and as a person?
Darren never fails to make me laugh. There have been multiple occasions where a client has walked in, and he recognises them straight away. He’ll then reel off the property address they bought through him 12 or so years ago! If I said to Darren any door number of any street, I could guarantee that 90% of the time, he’ll have had some kind of dealings with that property, whether he knows the owners, sold them the property, or they were involved within a chain somehow! Darren’s attention to detail is like no other – he is truly brilliant. As mentioned before, nothing is ever too much for Darren – he has the patience of a saint. We have a running joke in the office, being that when someone calls and requests to speak to Darren, they’re automatically part of the “Darren Honey Fan Club!”
Can you share an example of how Darren goes above and beyond in his role?
I would say, even in the face of adversity, Darren will continue to plough through each and every day with a huge smile on his face. Nothing is ever ever too much for our Darren, he is incredibly helpful, friendly, and just an all-around true Gent. He will always put other people before himself, and his needs, no matter what. He is truly selfless and will always go above and beyond for anyone and everyone. Darren often finds himself coming in on his days off, to ensure nothing is left unresolved. He also tends to work from home on the odd occasion, and stays late to finish off uploading details to systems, ready for properties to go live!
Do you have a memorable story that highlights Darren’s character?
Darren rarely ever takes a minute to just stop and breathe! However, the rare moments Darren does get to stop and take a minute, are normally around the work Christmas party times.. and boy does he let loose! We have a nickname for him.. We call him The Honey Monster! He gets up, dances, sings, and just simply enjoys himself. It’s so brilliant to see him just be in his own little bubble, vibing, and side-stepping the night away!
What do you admire most about Darren?
I admire Darren’s constant professionalism. He’s always smiling and tries to make the best of a bad situation! Other than Darren’s professionalism, I’d say his local knowledge and skills of remembering addresses and locations is like no other. I have truly lost count of the number of times I’ve got lost on appointments, phoned Darren in a panic and he’s known exactly where I am. Moving home can be a stressful enough time, but with Darren in control, it’s a breeze!
