The Mayor joined Margaret House Care Home residents and children from Barley and Barkway Federation school last month as they completed a fantastic 75,020 steps round the home’s garden.
Great music for everyone to step out to was provided by Royston Radio and the children stayed to enjoy a picnic lunch afterwards.
Wellbeing Manager Lea-Ann Smith said “We really appreciated the support of the mayor, who I think completed nearly every lap!! as well as Royston Radio and the children – we all had a great time together whilst raising money and awareness for a charity close to our heart.” The event was to support The Big Step Out, a national campaign to celebrate unpaid carers and the people they care for as well as raising funds for Stepping Out who provide free days out for carers – the next of which is taking place in July at Audley End.
