Spotlight On… Coombes Community Centre
Coombes Community Centre located on Burns Road in Royston is looking forward to welcoming back many of its community groups, clubs and organisations.
During the last year the centre has been able to stay open for those giving blood and support groups for mental health and religious gatherings as it immediately made itself a COVID-19 secure venue. The centre is operated by the Royston Community Association who are a group of community minded local people who give their time as volunteers to ensure the centre is available for the use of the town and the surrounding area.
Although the year has been tough financially, it has come through to remain a top-notch facility for Royston. We are delighted to welcome Wonderland Day Nursery who from April are our new Ofsted registered occupant who will be offering child care in our purpose built under 5’s area and can be contacted on 0330 088 6774 or email royston@ wonderland-nursery.com.
Groups who hope to return soon include NCT Yoga and Baby Massage, Littleruggers, Little City, Drama Classes, Karate and dance lessons for adults. As our ability to return continues we hope to see the return of a choir, WI, language classes and sports, along with more support groups such as the Garden House Hospice. As the centre is independently run it can offer help for any group wanting to start an activity for the community, or a business or individual needing an affordable place for meetings, training, interviews or daily work. With plenty of free parking and the cleanest most colourful toilets in Royston, everyone should check us out on Facebook, our website, pick up a leaflet at the library or email us for more information. With free wi-fi, bright carpeted rooms, fully fitted clean kitchens, central heating and air conditioning as well as outside grassed areas to enjoy and relax in, it is worth checking us out and we are a not-for-profit registered charity so charges are very reasonable.
