Thursday Morning Parkinson’s Club

2024 is looking busy for those living with Parkinson’s in the Royston area.

The new Thursday Morning Parkinson’s Club, supported by Parkinson’s UK North Herts and Stevenage Branch, kicks off with singing, yoga, dance, research presentations and more.

Over 150 people live with Parkinson’s in our area and increasingly, people are being offered nonpharmacological interventions such as exercise, dance, voice work and singing to help maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The club, commissioned by Parkinson’s UK, aims to reach out to all those who are affected by the condition including family, friends, carers: in fact anybody who feels they would benefit from social and physical activity, not to mention the laughter and friendship that evolves. There are no county boundaries. If you can get there, we welcome you.

It is worth mentioning at this point that Royston has its own Parkinson’s Café run at The Bull on the last Tuesday of the month, an exercise class at Royston Leisure Centre every lunchtime on Tuesdays and the ParkinSing session will continue on Thursday mornings. Our new club/hub builds on this existing provision, and we are hoping that more people will come forward with ideas for the future.

The Thursday Morning Parkinson’s Club will meet every Thursday 10.30am – 12noon starting on 11th January at Coombes Community Centre, Burns Rd, Royston, SG8 5PT. Cost £5pp which includes refreshments. To find out more just turn up or call Linda or David Bance on 07753 636 443
