Spotlight On: Reed Cricket Club

Reed Cricket Club has been a proud part of village life in Hertfordshire since 1956.

The club is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2026, marking seven decades as a much-loved fixture in the local community. Located in the picturesque village of Reed (SG8 8AX), the club welcomes players of all ages to enjoy cricket in a relaxed, friendly and family-focused environment.

The club fields four adult Saturday league teams competing in the Hertfordshire Leagues, alongside a regular Sunday friendly side that offers enjoyable and social cricket. Reed Cricket Club is inclusive of all backgrounds, genders and abilities, with structured pathways appropriate to age and experience.

A thriving junior section provides a clear pathway from All Stars Cricket for children from age five through to Under 15s, before progressing toward senior cricket where appropriate. Young players are developed in a supportive and positive environment, with an emphasis on learning, teamwork and enjoyment.

The club has enjoyed notable success, having won the National Village Cup in 2012, 2017 and 2019, a remarkable achievement for a village club and a reflection of the quality of cricket being played.

Recognised by the ECB and Hertfordshire Cricket League as a key ‘Focus Club’, the club has recently been accredited with ‘Clubmark’, recognising clubs that demonstrate high standards of organisation and have active policies relating to equity, child welfare and safety.

Training takes place across the year, with outdoor sessions from April to September and indoor training from January to March. Off the field, Reed Cricket Club is a family-friendly social hub, bringing together players, parents and supporters.

Want to Get Involved?
Reed Cricket Club is always keen to welcome new players across all teams, so if you fancy pulling on the whites, we’d love to hear from you. We’re also looking for volunteers to support the club, whether that’s helping the ground staff for an hour or two a week with cutting the outfield or getting the pitch ready for matchdays. Every bit of help makes a difference.
