Spotlight On… 10th Royston Scout Group
This May is an exciting time for the 10th Royston Scout Group. During the tough last years, the 62 children that make up our Beavers (5-7), Cubs (7-11) and Scouts (11-14) have continued to meet throughout – virtually, safely and outside. Through the imagination and dedication of our leaders, they have continued to learn, to earn their badges and most important of all, to have fun!
As we all strive to recover normality, our groups have resumed more normal activities in the Scout Hut in the old Roysia school grounds. Most anticipated is a return of that archetype of scouting: Camp!
10th Royston Scouts are going on an “I’m a Scout get me out of here” camp, while the District is organising a week on the Isle of Wight. This month the Scouts are doing a sponsored bike ride to raise money for the camps.
If you would like your children to join this fantastic and enriching experience please reach out to roystonscouts10th@hotmail.com
And scouting is not just for the kids: we have a full and dedicated set of uniformed leaders, but they are always looking for parent helpers. We also need parents to help run the organisational side of the scout charity, with the demands of lockdown leading to several parents being unable to continue their support.
So if you would like to help the Scout movement, but would struggle with a regular commitment, we would love to have your support on the Scout Exec.
