Royston Museum – March Update

Monthly Update: From Emma – Museum Curator…

The Museum’s doors are now open again following our winter closure. I want to say a massive well done and thank you to Sophie, our Curator, the staff and the volunteers for their hard work on an incredible project to upgrade our Collections Stores.

It has been wonderful welcoming our visitors back. We have two new temporary exhibitions for you to enjoy. Downstairs you can discover more about what we got up to over the winter as well as how we care for our collections. On the upstairs gallery, you can wander around Royston through the art of local painter, printmaker and illustrator Ernest H. Whydale (1886 -1952).

We have a busy year of activities and events ahead of us. Our March events include:
• Museum Babies and Tots – The first of our new sessions especially for under 5s and their adults is on Wednesday 5th March and is all about transport!
• Spark! – Our new monthly after-school art club for young people aged 11 to 14 starts on Thursday 13th March.
• Clay and Cava – A relaxing evening to try your hand at using clay whilst enjoying a glass of something bubbly is taking place Friday 14th March.
• Author, poet and songwriter, Nick Blatchley, is giving a fascinating talk on the Folk Tales of Hertfordshire on Wednesday 19th March.
• There’s also a chance to see the Royston Tapestry on Saturday 29th March.

Full details about our activities and events, including booking information, can be found at: www.roystonmuseum.org.uk/what-s-on
Open: Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm. We hope to see you soon!
