Royston Museum Highlights by Emma

During July, we welcomed six students from King James Academy on work experience.

Over the course of the week, the students discovered how we care for the Museum’s collection, including hands-on experience of photographing and cataloguing objects. They helped us prepare for the summer holidays and worked together to create their own mini-exhibition which is available to see at the Museum.

We’ve also been busy working with Museum Development South East to film a case study about the Museum’s work to be a more environmentally responsible organisation. We’ll share the finished film on our social media this autumn.

This August, we have a top-secret mission for families to enjoy! Train as a secret agent in our summer spy school! Over six action-packed weeks, kids and grown-ups alike can unlock new spy skills, take on thrilling challenges, and complete top-secret missions together. Each week will feature a different spy skill – from decoding and disguise to stealth and surveillance. Plus our summer holiday pass is back – all 6 weeks of activities for just £6 per child.

Our monthly activities are taking a break over the summer, but will be back in September:

  • Museum Tots on Wednesday 3rd September is all about farming and the countryside.
  • Spark! Art Club for young people aged 11 to 14 continues on Thursday 11th September.
  • Discover the artistic works of E.H. Whydade in our next fascinating talk, In Ernest, on Wednesday 17th September.
