Royston Museum – Discover Over 2000 years of Royston’s Story

Discover over 2000 years of Royston’s story… by Royston Museum

It’s been all go at Royston Museum as a steady stream of carpenters, plumbers, electricians, floor fitters, glass fitters and kitchen fitters trickle in, all working hard to redevelop more areas of the museum for the benefit of our community.

On the ground floor, the toilet and kitchen have now been knocked together into a larger, accessible toilet with a new toilet and sink, and introduction of handrails and baby-changing facilities.

Plus, upstairs, an open-plan Research Room has been created, providing greater access to our collection, and a new community kitchen has been installed to establish a Community Room, the hub from which the museum’s educational offerings will now be provided, enabling a thriving cycle of enrichment workshops, children’s activities and adult education, making opportunity in the town to learn and create greater than ever before.

Underground, at Royston Cave, next month sees the return of their hugely popular Cave by Candlelight event. See the cave’s carving by the flicker of candlelight, as it would have been seen hundreds of years ago, for their most magical event of the year! Sat 9th – Sun 10th December, 12 – 4pm. Pre-booking only, and tickets are selling fast! Book online at roystoncave.co.uk/events

The museum will reopen its doors to the public on Thursday 23rd November with a brand-new temporary exhibition about Barkway. We can’t wait to welcome you all back to see what we’ve been up to!
