Discover over 2000 years of Royston’s story… by Royston Museum
We’ve had a fantastic first summer back, with weekly kids’ activities and our inaugural summer fete, and it’s been great to feel the museum buzzing again!
We’re now looking ahead to our next round of events for Royston Arts Festival, including; a talk about the burial mounds on the Heath; a Jungle Explorer’s Day, with exotic animal talks and handling sessions; and a Fossil Hunters Day, with dinosaur bones to unearth! To book your tickets or find out more, visit roystonmuseum.org.uk/events.
On our website, we’ve introduced a new About section, so you can get to know the museum, its history, governance and our plans for future, and find a short overview of the key areas of Royston’s history, from the medieval priory to King James’ palace. We’ve also added a Support section, so you can now donate to the museum online from the comfort of your home. Or why not become a member? It’s only £10 a year and gives you discounted or free access to lots of events, plus an invitation to exclusive member’s events!
Every Friday, we’ve also started to post images from our Photography Collection to social media. So far, we’ve uploaded old pictures of the railway station, the Green Plunge swimming pool and Royston Town Football Club, with bitesize facts about each. The photos will cover different aspects of the town across various time periods.
You can follow along and share your memories with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
The newly-renovated museum is open every Thurs – Sun, 10am – 4pm.
