Hertfordshire Libraries Celebrate 100 Years of Service with a Year-Long Programme of Events
As summer arrives Hertfordshire Libraries continue their Centenary Celebrations with the Big Weekend event taking place at every library on Saturday 7th June, between 2-3.30pm, Royston Library will be offering an opportunity to get involved with the Poetry Festival which runs until 21st June, challenging children and adults to write and submit a 100 word poem with prizes including a family ticket to the Warner Brothers Studio Tour!
Throughout the day you will be able to join in with creating a colourful collaborative piece of artwork or your own smaller version specially designed for the centenary. You’ll have the chance to watch our “Through The Decades: 100 Years of Hertfordshire Libraries” film, as we journey through the decades celebrating the past 100 years. Refreshments will be on offer so drop in for a drink and cake.
On 19th June at 7pm our popular Crime Panel returns. Last year 4 authors chatted together and told us about their books, how they became authors and gave tips to Royston’s budding writers. There will be more of the same with a new set of sleuths to keep you entertained. Tickets are £5 per person and available from all libraries or online: www.Hertfordshire.gov.uk/libraries and if that’s not enough, there are still tickets available for solo performer Juliette Burton’s Comedy Show on Thursday 3rd July at 7pm. Juliette is also a writer, voiceover artist and speaker so a good evening should be had by all! Tickets are £5.
