Summer is upon us and it is time for seasonal fun like picnics.
Why not make the most of our local shops and market to buy a totally plastic free picnic? To add entertainment, you can borrow garden games from the Letchworth Garden Shed
www.letchworthgardenshed.com for a small fee.
Here at Royston Environmental Group we are gearing up for Plastic Free July
www.plasticfreejuly.org; a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities. Will you be part of Plastic Free July by choosing to refuse single use plastics? You can take the challenge and make a pledge online to do your bit.
Throughout the year, we also run the Plastic Free Royston scheme: frierley.com/roystonenvirogroup/plastic-free, aiming to reduce single use plastics in the town’s businesses, community groups, venues and authorities. Do get in touch if you would like to join!
Amongst our other projects, Royston Environmental Group help run the Royston Tesco Community Garden. The garden is open every second Saturday in the month (12th July, 9th August) and by arrangement at other times. It is a joy to be there in the summer weather, and the whole ethos is very inclusive, all are welcome to come and try something out.
We recently invited a local art group FOTH Plein Air Painting www.friendsoftherfieldheath.org.uk/plein-air-painting.html to come and paint the garden. Maybe you can find inspiration with us too?
