The Royston Information Centre, located within Royston Library, is now not only represented on the town website but on other independent websites offering tourist information nationally.
It is also working with VisitHerts (Hertfordshire’s own official tourism website) to promote the town and its attractions. Information on the Cave, the RIC and the Museum can be found on their website.
VistEngland – England’s national tourist board has also recently given permission for RIC to use their famous ‘i’ symbol and to display their ‘Tourist Information’ sign.
This puts it on a par with other tourist information offices around the county and gives Royston a presence on their internationally recognized website.
Visitors can discover what there is to see and do in Royston and test their knowledge of Royston’s history using the new touch-screen interactive quiz. There’s even a mock-up of some of the carvings that can be seen in Royston Cave and life size copies of the arches in the parish church.
A series of new promotional materials are available, which include town centre maps, a comprehensive Clubs and Associations guide and an Accommodation guide to the town, which sit alongside other useful publications such as the Town Trail and the history of Royston Cave. Local history books are also available for loan or purchase.
We are delighted to have been given permission to publish a series of articles about the town trail during the year so look out for these in future issues!
The RIC sponsored the successful candlelight cave opening in December 2016 and will be supporting the Hertfordshire Big Weekend on 1st and 2nd April 2017 when Hertfordshire residents get the chance to win free tickets to lots of Hertfordshire attractions including the Royston Cave.
