News From Schools: Tannery Drift Pupils Shine at Tag Rugby Festival

This week twelve Year 2 pupils from Tannery Drift First School proudly represented their school at the Tag Rugby Festival hosted by St. Edmund’s Prep. The event welcomed 24 teams from 11 schools, creating a lively celebration of youth sport and friendly competition.

The Tannery Drift teams demonstrated exceptional teamwork, determination, and resilience throughout the group stages – qualities that sit at the heart of the school’s PE and sports ethos. Their commitment paid off as they went on to win all of their group stage matches and secure places in the finals.

The Tannery Drift Lions delivered an unforgettable performance in the Cup Final, clinching victory with a dramatic golden try. Meanwhile, the Tannery Drift Tigers brought home further success by winning the Plate Final with an impressive 4–1 score.

The young athletes returned to school elated, if a little muddy after a morning filled with excitement, achievement, and community spirit. Their success is a testament not only to their own enthusiasm but also to the staff who support and champion sporting opportunities for all pupils.

It was a memorable day of sporting excellence, and the school community is incredibly proud of the children’s achievements both on and off the pitch.
