Wise Local Crafters have been running since January 2025, meeting weekly for all who enjoy a variety of crafts. The group offers a warm, welcoming community where members share their experience and teach others the joy of trying new crafts.
Since starting, many members have supported local charities with their creative skills. These projects have included knitting and crocheting poppies for the Meldreth Parish Council war memorial, making premature baby items for maternity hospitals, creating blankets for cat and dog rehoming charities, and hand-making keychains for the Shepreth Spitfires’ France 2025 tournaments. More recently, members have been contributing to Arthur Rank Hospice by making Christmas stockings to help fundraise for this worthy cause.
In addition to their weekly sessions, the group also enjoys a monthly lunch club at The Hoops in Bassingbourn, which has proven to be an overwhelming success and a very enjoyable social event.
Wise Local Crafters invite new members to join them for a chat, a craft, and a cuppa. The group is a non-profit, friendly community that meets Thursday mornings from 10.30am onwards at Eternit Sports and Social Club, a fully accessible venue with free parking.
