Wise Local Crafters have been running since January 2025, meeting weekly for all who enjoy a variety of crafts. The group offers a warm, welcoming community where members share their experience and teach others the joy of trying new crafts.
Member have been busy this month!! Actively trying to support local community charities as well as supporting well known causes. So many crafters have produced beautiful pieces for the following worthy causes!
Over 100 stockings were handmade knitted and crocheted by incredibly talented members of Wise Local Crafters for the Arthur Rank Hospice ‘Christmas Stockings Appeal’. The club also contributed by sending in sweetie treats to be placed inside the stocking in the hope to raise money for a very worthy cause.
Members hand knitted many premature baby hats, blankets, and matinee jackets for Broomfield Maternity Hospital in Chelmsford and also contributed handmade blankets for Wood Green Animal Shelter to keep the kitties and dogs comfortable in their kennels.
The group were also very proud to help produce poppies for Meldreth War Memorial. ‘It was a huge privilege to be involved and such a delight to see the beautiful, finished result’

More recently, members have been contributing to Arthur Rank Hospice by making Christmas stockings to help fundraise for this worthy cause.
In addition to their weekly sessions, the group also enjoys a monthly lunch club at The Hoops in Bassingbourn, which has proven to be an overwhelming success and a very enjoyable social event.
Wise Local Crafters invite new members to join them for a chat, a craft, and a cuppa. The group is a non-profit, friendly community that meets Thursday mornings from 10.30am onwards at Eternit Sports and Social Club, a fully accessible venue with free parking.
