Meldreth Bowls Club

By the time that you read this, the 2023 summer outdoors bowls season will have almost come to an end and we start to look forward to bowling indoors over the winter months.

Following on from an unusually hot and dry June we had to endure a cold and wet July with several fixtures having to be re-arranged in what was then a shrinking season. Hopefully, we will get all of these in before we lose the light in the evenings! We sit in the middle of the leagues that we play in and have reached the final of the Kenzie Cup, where we will play Foxton.

Our recruitment campaign for this year has been very successful with several new bowlers joining our club and finding themselves being picked for matches shortly thereafter. All seem to be enjoying the experience and are readily signing up to play in more games. Formal Coaching is also being provided to members and play has improved as a result.

As well as bowls there is a social side to our club and we have organised a number of functions including quiz nights and a Pimm’s and puddings afternoon, which were much enjoyed by those that attended. Our next function is a Race Night on August 18th. We also arranged for our members to receive CPR and Defibrillator training, which was provided by MAGPAS.

If you are a bowler or would like to learn or instead would just like to join us as a social member you will be very welcome.
