We are privileged to live close to a beautiful natural resource, Therfield Heath, with rarities such as the Pasque flower and the Chalkhill Blue butterfly.
The chances are that you have enjoyed this wonderful Heath by eating at the Heath Café, playing sport, wildlife spotting, attending an event such as the Kite Festival or simply by running or walking on it. Are you aware that there is no public funding for the Heath? The Conservators look after the Heath but need more finance and resource to keep it at its best. The Friends of Therfield Heath, which is independent of the Conservators, was formed with the objective to support them as best we can both financially and also by undertaking various tasks, such as the recent litter picking day. But we also want to help you enjoy the Heath as much as possible, so we aim to provide enjoyable and informative events for your benefit.
We have already successfully organised a photography course, guided walks, a cloud spotting picnic, an extremely popular Easter Egg hunt and erected 30 bird and bat boxes. Everyone is welcome to join events and members enjoy discounts.
Membership fees are set low so that all are able to join, the minimum being £12/year for individuals, £16 for a family, but voluntary extra donations are very welcome.
