Community News: Take Part in the Easter Day Virtual Balloon Race!

This month, the people of Royston and the surrounding areas can experience the thrill of international travel – virtually! The Easter Day Virtual Balloon Race lifts off from Nairobi, Kenya, on Sunday 20th, at midday. Using advanced software that mimics real weather conditions, each virtual balloon will embark on a unique journey, soaring for seven days before reaching its final destination.

Participants can track their balloons in real time, watching as they travel hundreds of miles across virtual landscapes. The event, organised by Ecoracing, a British company, supports charities, with proceeds going to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

Royston Rotary President Derek Pinner shares:
” Everyone taking part can customise their balloon’s thickness and helium level. Some balloons might travel great distances, while others could ‘burst’ if they go too high! It’s a fantastic, family-friendly way to support a great cause, and we think children especially will love following their balloon’s progress.”
