Local drama group CADS is delighted to announce that they will be presenting their usual pantomime in January!
The show for 2025 is a brand new version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, written by local author Warren McWilliams, who was also responsible for the last two record-breaking pantomimes, Sleeping Beauty in 2023 and The Little Mermaid in 2024. Warren prides himself on developing strong characters and appealing to all ages. His scripts always contain a high joke content and the dialogue is succinct and plot-driven.
Warren’s version sees Goldilocks, with her brother Billy and their mother Dame Gertie Gemmell, venture into the woods to recruit a new act for their circus. They find one that’s just right – three dancing bears. But twisted debt collector Mr De Ville is set on closing down all circuses. The director for 2025 is Alison Bass and musical direction is once again by Louise Atkins. It’s a large cast and a fast-moving show that strays a long way from the original folk tale – Warren describes the panto as “a cautionary tale of putting profits over people and the arts.” – but true to tradition, it still has plenty of unusual characters, songs and pantomime silliness, plus, of course, a lot of good jokes.
The show will be presented on:
Saturday 25th January (matinee at 2pm, evening performance at 7.30pm)
Sunday 26th January (matinee at 11.30am)
Friday 31st January (evening performance at 7.30pm)
