Community News: Royston Health Walks Community Open Day

Royston Health Walks is hosting a Community Open Day on Wednesday 17th September at The Heath Café from 10am

The theme for this event is ‘Adopting a Healthy Lifestyle’. We have been running social walks for over 8 years and have contributed to the physical and mental health and wellbeing of people in our community (and beyond) but we would like to do more. To implement and maintain a healthy lifestyle you need knowledge and opportunity. We think joining us for a walk, a chat and a brew any and every Wednesday is a good opportunity but now we want to provide more knowledge; knowledge is power, ignorance most definitely isn’t bliss when it comes to your health.

Royston Health Walks is an independent social walking group. We are very welcoming, friendly, non-cliquey and positively inclusive. We are amblers, not ramblers, join us for a walk, a chat and a brew. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us regardless of age, level of fitness and in principle, state of health. We have a number of different walks every Wednesday all of which start at The Heath Café, Baldock Road, Royston, SG8 5BG. The walks are free, you only pay for your refreshments and we are always very happy to have children, buggies, mobility scooters and especially dogs join us.

On the day there will be both a leisurely and slow/flat walk at 10am followed by a brew; a ‘healthy’ barbeque from 12.30pm; and a more challenging and a second leisurely walk at 2pm followed by a brew. Feel free to join us for any part of our event, everyone’s welcome.

We will be promoting, supporting and raising funds for Medical Detection Dogs which was the charity we supported at our very first event and one we very much want to support now.
