Girlguiding has been active in Royston for over 100 years. Mrs Dorothy Christon, a former Guider, was the mastermind behind the building of our Headquarters over 50 years ago.
The district did a lot of fundraising like collecting newspapers, silver bottle tops and foil. Christon Hall has been in constant use ever since and it’s starting to show! We have done lots of work to improve the hut alongside continuous maintenance, but there is still more to be done to ensure it is fit for future generations of girls that come through the doors.
We are holding our annual Spring Fayre on Saturday 15th March, from 10am to 12 noon at The Town Hall. This event is our main fundraiser of the year and all money raised goes towards our Save Christon Hall Appeal. There will be a fantastic choice of stalls run by the units offering craft, games, tombolas, books and homemade cakes to name but a few, plus a raffle and refreshments. Bringing cash in small change really helps us out. It is FREE ENTRY and fun for all the family! Please come along and support our fundraising and help us ensure the future of Girlguiding in Royston.
