Therfield Heath’s most precious and iconic wildflower – the Pasque flower – begins to bloom on Church Hill and Penn Hill throughout April.
Therfield Heath supports one of the most impressive colonies of Pasque flowers in the country, roughly 25% of the entire UK population.
Visitors are warmly encouraged to enjoy the Pasque flower’s vivid purple petals and saffron stamen, but please help protect the flowers by not picking them and staying inside the marked footpaths on Church Hill.
After great success in the winter, we’re holding four more free mulch giveaways this April! The mulch is created from chipping woody scrub and encroaching saplings that were removed from the grassland by volunteers over the winter — perfect for adding to your garden or allotment this spring. Bring your own bags, buckets or barrows and we can fill them for you! For details, check our social media.
