Community News: December News from Therfield Heath & Greens…

As Christmas approaches and New Year resolutions get written we reflect on achievements from the past year and plan for the future.

The popular Friends of Therfield Heath group has run a range of events during 2024. If you are interested in finding out more about this group, their website has more information and membership options. Could 2025 see you joining a volunteer session or attending a nature walk and finding out more about this land?

Behind the scenes grass has been cut and collected and some car park ‘pothole’ filling completed. As Christmas trees get bought and brought home, the site’s trees will be examined and then maintained to keep the trees safe and healthy. Many volunteers have been working away, these last few months, removing invasive plants and areas of scrub. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and contributions.

Therfield Heath and Greens are a wonderful free resource for local people and those who visit from further afield. Managing such a variety of sites is a challenging task. Today the common land serves as a home:- to delicate butterflies; the Pasque flowers; racehorse training and the playing of games as well as a space for people to freely access the land.

Interested in being a Conservator? The next Conservator elections are in February 2025. Details of the election process will be on our website in early 2025.
