About the Latest Convoy

In September, Royston residents Rik Dawson and Maria Shaughnessy travelled to Ukraine as part of Convoy4Ukraine’s largest humanitarian mission to date.

Convoy #10 delivered 22 vehicles, including two ambulances, directly to trusted Ukraine frontline partners. A team of 33 volunteers spent weeks sourcing, repairing, and equipping the fleet of vehicles for the drive across Europe. Each vehicle was packed with essential medical supplies including trauma dressings, tourniquets, stretchers, defibrillators, generators, power banks, food, and vehicle parts.

The convoy also transported kitchen equipment and supplies to a rehabilitation and centre supoorting displaced families near Lviv. Each vehicle is estimated to help save up to 50 lives.

Rik and Maria drove over 1,300 miles through Belgium, Germany and Poland before crossing into Ukraine to complete the handover.

Convoy4Ukraine was founded by Tom Walston of Meldreth in May 2022. With Convoy#10, that brings the total to 213 vehicles delivered with tonnes of aid and medical supplies.

Community Support

Rik and Maria expressed sincere gratitude to the Royston community, whose donations helped fund essential medical aid.

“These supplies go straight to the people who need them most, local support made this mission possible. There is still a lot of work to do. We won’t stop until the Ukrainians can declare victory.”

The charity is now preparing for Convoy #11 in February.
