Community News: Charity Golf Day Raises £1,000 for Addenbrooke’s!

The skies cleared, the rain held off, the breeze lightened;  what a great day to be playing golf – and at the same time to be helping support Addenbrooke’s Hospital!

A charity day at Kingsway Golf, Melbourn, organised by a team from the Rotary Club of Royston and led by club president Derek Pinner, raised an amazing £1000.  He said afterwards: “It was a great day – many thanks to all who took part. Addenbrooke’s, and the care it provides, is an essential part of our local community.”

The day started with a bacon roll and cuppa,  followed by tee off at 10am. After two hours’ play it was back to the clubhouse for a lunch of ham, eggs and chips. Winner  was Trevor Cage, from Woodbridge, with 25 points, and the winning team was Iain Smith, Trevor Cage, Howard Peacock and Derek Pinner.

Prizes, some of which  were generously donated by Kingsway Golf, were presented by Jody Upson from Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.
