Club News: Royston & District Mencap

Mencap is a society for people with learning difficulties and their carers. Here in Royston, new members are always welcome.

On behalf of Royston and District Mencap I would like to say that although membership has somewhat diminished over the last few years – especially since Covid – we are still up and running.
Most of our Tuesday meetings now are held in Wetherspoons who have welcomed us and are very obliging and respectful towards our members.

While these meetings are not as regular as they used to be, we do give advanced notice of date and time. We hold other events too with one of the favourites being bowling at Stevenage with lunch afterwards.

Last year we had a long weekend away at Butlins Skegness which went down very well and we are repeating this year. This is fully funded by Royston Mencap, and includes bed and breakfast, the evening meal and the coach journey. And of course we do have our annual visit to the Pantomime at Stevenage.

This year we have also been to an Abba Tribute and Harry Potter World. There are other events in the pipeline but these have yet to be confirmed.
