Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery, based in Halls Green near Hitchin, has announced two major milestones in its evolution: a transition to employee ownership and the appointment of a new Managing Director – Hitchin native and former Hitchin Girls’ School student, Rebecca Howarth.
Rebecca, who has been part of the Harriet Kelsall team for over 20 years, brings both deep professional experience and strong local roots to her new role. Having joined the business in 2004 as a Design Assistant, she has played a key role, leading the team with design expertise and innovation. Her appointment reflects the company’s commitment to nurturing talent and continuing to grow as a proudly local and values-driven business.

As of 25th June 2025, the business has transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), marking a bold and exciting new chapter. Founded at Harriet Kelsall’s kitchen table in 1998 in Weston, Hertfordshire, the company has spent the past 26 years pioneering bespoke jewellery on the high street, and earning numerous industry accolades, including Bespoke Jeweller and Ethical Jeweller of the Year.
With the transition to employee ownership, the skilled and passionate team who have helped shape the company’s successes are now key stakeholders in its future.
Founder-Director and Executive Chair Harriet Kelsall intends to stay in the business for many years to come. As Managing Director, Rebecca Howarth will continue to lead with the same collaborative approach, championing the company’s strategies and upholding the values that have long set it apart: innovation, ethics, and a commitment to celebrating individuality.
