Be Sustainable in February: ‘Show the Love’

At last, what feels like the longest month of the year is over and we can look forward and “Show The Love” in February: www.theclimatecoalition.org/show-the-love

It’s run by the Climate Coalition for the whole of February helping you take action to protect the people and places you love. Share your story and and craft a green heart from food or textiles. Sunday, 2nd February is World Wetlands Day: www.worldwetlandsday.org

Wetlands should be permanently or seasonally flooded areas that encourage wildlife and form such an important part of our ecology. Pledge to support your local wetlands, such as Fowlmere, and save them for future generations.

We love Valentine’s Day and it doesn’t have to cost the earth. Gifted flowers should be grown locally, ideally within 25 miles of home, and be seasonal. Think early spring bulbs and potted primroses. If your beloved especially likes flowers take the train and a bus to Anglesey Abbey and walk through the snowdrop woodland of over 500 varieties of the prettiest flowers. Take a romantic picnic and wrap up warm. Gift ethical chocolate and organic wine.

International Polar Bear Day 27th February, this year is all about protecting mothers and babies, giving them the best possible chance of surviving in the hostile arctic climate. Take part in live events and learn about polar bears: polarbearsinternational.org
