The highlight of the year for Royston Environmental Group is the Sustain-Ability Fair as part of the Royston Arts Festival on Saturday, 28th September 2024.
Confirmed are several local organisations and businesses who will be happy to chat with you, giving practical help, advice and solutions to sustainable living issues. We all want to make the jump, but don’t always have the knowhow to do so easily. Come and find us with our sustainable friends, under our cheerful gazebo, near the sensory maze in Priory Gardens from midday.
With the dramatic decline in insect populations in recent years it’s even more important to Go Organic! Visit www.soilassociation.org/causes-campaigns/organic-september/ to find out what organic really means, how to find organic retailers, sign up for a free digital guide, and sign a pledge for our planet. Combining organic foods with reducing general food waste uses so much less energy!
Leave your car at home on World Car Free Day, the 22nd September https://nationaltoday.com/world-car-free-day/ and walk or wheel to wherever you happen to be going that Sunday. If the weather is pleasant, as it often is in late September, go for a lovely long walk, take a plastic free picnic and drink in the early autumn air. Don’t forget to take your litter home!
Please visit the Community Garden, based at the entrance of Tesco store on Old North Road next to the roundabout – what3 words address – join.success.invisible, on 14th September. Beans, berries and potatoes will be ready to harvest and the sunflowers will be in full bloom! At home the ground will be warm from the summer so plant broad beans for an early spring crop and plant out cabbage seedlings to mature over winter along with garlic and onions.
Organically yours, The Sustain-Ability Team
