Be Sustainable in March: At last spring is here and the days are longer.

March brings many opportunities to take part in sustainable activities. There is so much to look forward to in spring!

The Great British Spring Clean and Great Big School Clean 2025 returns from 21st March – 6th April 2025. Look out for local litter picks or just take a small bag and pair of gloves on your daily walks and collect bits of rubbish as you go www.keepbritaintidy.org/get-involved/support-our-campaigns/great-british-spring-clean

Alongside is The Big Walk & Wheel running from Monday 24th March 2025. Designed to inspire families to leave the car at home and get active, giving everyone a healthy start to the day as well as reducing our carbon footprint.

At home, your own spring cleaning can be done sustainably with bicarbonate of soda, lemon juice or white vinegar, a few drops of essential oil and a lot of elbow grease. Recycle old T-shirts and towels as cleaning cloths, and get into those nooks and crannies with a worn out toothbrush and tatty sisal scrub. Windows will shine and your home will be naturally fragrant www.sustainablejungle.com/sustainable-spring-cleaning

Switch off everything for an hour on Saturday, 29th March at 8.30pm for www.earthhour.org – Turn off unnecessary tech and entertain yourselves with candlelight games, puzzles or a good book, making music or telling ghost stories. Roast marshmallows over a firepit and celebrate by spending the hour wrapped up stargazing from your garden.

Those hedgehogs will be up and about and, having lost a third of their body weight over winter, please do leave dog food and water out for them.

Have a bright and beautiful Spring! From the Sustain-Ability Team
