My Local Life: Polly Joseph – Elevare Learning & Nutwood Networking

My Local Life: Polly Joseph – Elevare Learning & Nutwood Networking

We’re excited to feature Polly Joseph this November. We met Polly through Nutwood Networking, and found her to be an inspiration: a year ago, she took the leap from the corporate sector to set up her own business and hasn’t looked back since!

Polly has a locally based portfolio career that allows her to focus on both her strengths and her passions – a combination she believes is ideal.

She’s lived in the East Hertfordshire countryside for almost twenty years, and Polly enjoys access to many wonderful walks and running routes, helping her maintain a healthy work/life balance.

Tell us about Elevare Learning – what do you do, and what led you into this work?

My business is called Elevare Learning (Elevare is Latin for elevate) and my work is all about elevating people’s behavioural skills to support them with their lives & careers in whichever way is best for them. This might be via group training, 1-1 training or coaching for example. I have worked in the field of learning & development for well over twenty years now meaning I bring a wealth of experience to my work from a wide variety or sectors and organisations. I am also a Mental Health First Aid trainer & I am very passionate about this particular branch of my work which I conduct both in the community (at Attend2Health in Buntingford) and within local organisations/online. 25% of us (on average) have a diagnosable mental health issue and I work hard to continue to open up conversations, reduce stigma & support others in this vitally important area.

Tell us about your involvement with Nutwood Networking and what would you say to someone who’s thinking about attending their first networking event?

I also work part time as Head of Marketing & Events for Nutwood Pubs which means I get to facilitate some awesome events in the local community such as regular business networking & singles events. If you are thinking of coming along to either of these you will be most welcome, our events are very inclusive and if you can elevate your own development, supercharge your business & transform your love life all at the same time (if needed) then that is what I call a win-win-win!

What’s your favourite local place for a coffee, lunch or an evening meal?

Kooky Nohmad – it’s the best cafe for me. Chai latte and a Brookie is my go to and The Chalk Hare for dinner and cocktails!

Which local independent shop or business would you recommend, and why?

Revolution Records. My first full time job was in a second hand record shop which I adored. This makes this super nostalgic for me. I love looking at all the beautiful artwork on the record sleeves and seeing what treasures they have in stock.

How would you spend your ideal weekend?

My ideal weekend would involve a workout, catching up with friends, shopping, dancing, cocktails, a lie in and a spa day thanks very much!

What’s the most valuable life lesson you’ve learnt?

I’m a very positive person. I’ve experienced an incredible amount of loss in my life which has changed the person I am. I practice gratitude journalling daily and sweat the small stuff a lot less than I used to. I appreciate everything in my life now. Big and small.

What are you most looking forward to this November?

I love the darker mornings and evenings and when it gets colder. I love wrapping up in cosy clothes and drinking hot chocolate. I’m a big kid who loves Halloween and bonfire night even now!
