A year ago, I wasn’t doing this. I mean, I’d worked in music before but fast forward 12 months and I now teach 4 choirs a week and I’m smack bang in the middle of this great organisation called Somewhere 2 Sing, which does exactly that; it gives people, anyone in fact, an opportunity to turn up at a local session and be taught to sing in harmony.
What’s more, these people, these strangers who turn up for the first time, with no idea if it’s going to be for them, can suddenly find themselves with this addictive and thoroughly rewarding hobby that can take them all over the country and beyond – singing en masse to whoever will listen whilst very often making life-long friends along the way.
Whether you’re brand new to singing or more experienced, every voice has a place and you’ll be warmly welcomed and encouraged. Our choirs are spaces where connections are made, confidence grows, and wellbeing is supported.
At the heart of it, Somewhere 2 Sing is full of genuinely caring members of your community and enthusiastic choir leaders like me, who may have somehow stumbled across a dream job.
So I’d love to meet you. There are about 50 in our group, men and women, and you can come along for free to see what it’s like and we’ll sing together, no pressure.
