Monthly Update – Royston Vets: Wellbeing & Health for our Pets

This time of year we will start to see a rise in temperatures, and it is important to focus on our pets well being and health by ensuring our pets are properly hydrated.

This may seem like an easy task, however dehydration can have serious consequences. Water is vital for maintaining proper bodily functions playing a significant role in regulating body temperature, aiding digestion and supporting organ function. Pets can experience various health issues, including kidney problems, urinary tract infections, and heatstroke. Here are some signs to look out for; dry gums, sunken eyes, lethargy, loss of appetite, dry skin, and excessive panting. There are many ways to help keep our pets hydrated, such as avoiding exercising your dog during the hottest times of the day, and maybe adding wet food into their diet.

Please contact us if you need medical attention or advice.
