As advertised in The Listing September Issues – Acute & Chronic Pain in Dogs & Cats…

Pain can be present in many forms not just movement. Dogs and Cats tend to hide their pain and often only show subtle and physical behaviour signs. This makes it difficult for you to notice they are suffering and potentially prolonging their discomfort. Acute pain is sudden and typically lasts for a short time usually caused by trauma or injury. Chronic refers to pain that lasts for an extended period, this type of pain can be associated by various conditions such as osteoarthritis, cancer, and dental disease. Here are just a few signs to look out for, agitation, panting, changes in movement, hiding, decrease in activity, and loss of appetite. If you notice any of these signs it is important to seek advice to determine the underlying cause of pain and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
