September – News from Therfield Heath & Greens…

Our AGM on 23rd July gave us an opportunity to thank our wonderful outgoing Chair, Holly Christie, for her leadership and professionalism during her time in the role.

The meeting was attended by 21 members with the venue kindly provided without charge by the Old Bull Inn. Holly presented her Annual Report, outlined the wide range of activities that have taken place during the last year and thanked our contributors, volunteers and supporters. The recent merger with Royston Wildlife Group has also enabled us to engage with a wider Royston community. Our Treasurer Ray Munden then summarised the charity’s finances and explained that this year’s increased balance will allow us to make a larger contribution to the Conservators for their future projects.

With Holly standing down, Bryony May was elected as interim Chair. Ann Smith was also re-elected as Secretary and Sarah Ramsey as a Committee Member. Bryony presented Holly with flowers, a book token and a card as a thank you for her significant contribution as Chair of FOTH.

To introduce our new Chair, Bryony has lived in Royston with her family for 35 years and has recently retired from her career as a meteorologist. She has served as a Governor at Tannery Drift School and is currently a District Councillor for Royston Heath Ward. Bryony became a member of the Friends of Therfield Heath and Greens in 2020 and joined the Committee just over two years ago.

Although Bryony has lived in Royston for many years, it was only during the Covid-19 pandemic that she started to walk there regularly with family and friends and began to truly appreciate the value it provides to the local community. Bryony is looking forward to continuing the good work of FOTH and to encouraging others to get involved.
