Spring is sprung and thoughts turn to the prospect of warmer weather and the chance to get outdoors.
The Royston Repair Café is inviting residents to look in their wardrobes, garden sheds and garages for items hastily stowed away as last autumn approached. Whether it’s a tent with a tear, a sticky zip, or a bent pole, repairer Rebecca can help you make the most of the great outdoors this summer. She’s also a whizz with keeping your favourite running and walking shoes on the road.
At a recent Repair Café, local resident Elena was thrilled with the transformation of her bicycle. “Peter, the miracle worker, brought my bicycle back to life,” she said, praising the care and attention it received.
In the garden, Royston’s team of volunteer repairers can assist with sharpening tools, repairing chairs, tables, umbrellas, and even children’s outdoor play equipment. And for those looking to refresh their spring wardrobes, Kat – the Café’s skilled sewing machinist – is available to give tired clothing a new lease of life.
The next Royston Repair Café is 2-5pm on Saturday 24th May at the Coombes Community Centre, Royston (SG8 5PT).
Advance booking is essential for a free assessment and, if possible, a fix of your broken item (only one per person).
Whether it’s sprucing up your gear, prepping for garden season, or mending something meaningful, Royston Repair Café is there to help the community reduce waste and extend the life of the things they love.
