Mindful Living: Embracing the Wonderful Lessons of Autumn
Finding harmony with the natural world contributes immensely to our overall wellbeing.
So, what can we learn from the nature Autumn?
Well, it is a time for slowing down, to be inspired by life, and gracefully and naturally start to let go.
Just as the trees begin to lose their leaves, we are reminded that we can’t always be full, sometimes life is better pared back a little, so you can use your energy on the things that you value the most and that contribute to your happiness, wellbeing and inner growth. Autumn is a much about preparing for winter as it is saying goodbye to summer charms.
Where do I start? Grab a cosy jumper, a journal (or piece of paper) and a warming cup of tea and here are some of prompts that can perhaps give you a little boost ahead of autumn:
1. Create a happy list. Write down all the activities that lift your mood.
2. Write down a list of things that are weighing you down. What do you need to let go of?
3. As a relaxing exercise doodle things that remind you of fall.
4. How does Autumn inspire you?
As the leaves fall the tree frees itself and returns to emptiness, ready to begin the cycle again. This is a great lesson for us too, we can also rejuvenate and restore.
In the words of Gabrielle Harris:
Release tension to invite in relaxation
Release busyness to encourage healing
Release fear to yield courage
Release indecision so you can cultivate more certainty.
Release resistance so you can flow around the mountains in your way.
