Fleas & Ticks…
The soft warm fur of dogs and cats provides the perfect environment for fleas and ticks. These insects feed on your pet’s blood and can cause health problems ranging from allergic reactions to serious tick-borne illnesses. Both fleas and ticks are more common during the warmer months, but you can take steps to ward them off any time of year. Some signs to watch out for are scratching, hair loss, soreness and irritation.
Ticks are common in woodland and grassland, you are most likely to see them between spring and autumn. It’s essential to treat both your pet and your home, as fleas can survive in the environment without a host for many months. To prevent fleas and ticks it is advisable to treat your pet regularly with a treatment that is recommended by your vet.
